Let Yourself Stop Waiting for Your Life to Begin

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

"Enough isn't an amount. It's a relationship with what you already have". These are quotes I recently heard by Geneen Roth during a lecture on the connection between your core beliefs and diet. Geneen’s primary scope of work is coaching others with eating disorders and unhealthy food relationships…as some of you may have experienced the constant seesaw between compulsive eating and perpetual dieting. But, she also speaks about her life experiences and how being in the darkest of times have brought her to see the true importance of life.

We are not guaranteed a life expectancy, nor do we know when our last day will come. Too often we lose loved ones who are young and had a life ahead of them with so much potential. We wonder why these tragedies happen and worse, to the best of us. In the moment it seems we start to contemplate all that is good in our lives and take a step back to appreciate our health, our children, our families. Think of your life and the fulfillment your thoughts can bring if you thought this way EVERYDAY.

Today I am thankful to experience a warm, sunny day in my back porch while blogging about life as I hear the birds chirp, and watch my daughter build with Legos. Doesn’t that sound so peaceful?

I can change my attention to what I have, not what I don’t have. Showing up and being present. It’s relationships, exercise, and spirituality that nourishes us everyday. Start focusing on these areas and watch how your focus transforms your thoughts and most importantly, your well-being. Don't miss your life by not showing up in every moment. Are you here?

Try going three hours without complaining. When you complain you are basically saying you don’t like what’s going on in your life right now. Get rid of the mean, old, critical voice in your head - just disengage! This is the biggest obstacle to any kind of change for me, for you, for us.

Take in the good that’s already present in your life. What’s not wrong in your life right now? I’d love to hear 3 things that are currently going well for you!

"Our greatest fears should not be a failure but at succeeding at things in life that don't really matter". - Francis Chan
